Access to and on the train Accessibility of this website

Accessibility of Tea on the Train

We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors to our facility, such as a 30+ year old train carriage will allow. If there are any specific requests please feel free to contact us either by phone or email.

Arrival and Parking

On arriving at Tea on the Train there is a large spacious car park set out in front of the train carriage. There is a large adjoining overflow car park that can also cater for coaches. There are two disabled parking spots to the right of the carriages which are nearest to the Heritage Centre. These are positioned so that the ramp of the station platoform can be accessed easily just to the left of the Heritage Centre. This then leads to the train.

There is a short flight of steps up to the platform level nearest to the carriages. These have a hand rail at either side. If steps prove challenging please use the ramp nearest the Heritage Centre.

Entrance

The train itself has a ramp for visitor access with a small step at the doorway.. The ramp has hand rails on either side. Please note that the doors of the carriages are not wide enough for a wheelchair or powered chair. We do have an evacuation transfer chair for use if required if you and you carer(s) feel able to utilise this safely. There is also alternative covered outside seating.

The carriage has no space for wheelchairs or the transfer chair due to its old design. If you need guidance on arrival please let a member of staff know. We hope to remedy this with a second carriage in the near future.

Toilet

There is currently no onboard toilet as space is limited and it is not suitable for many disabled users. The Heritage Centre has a male and a female toilet with the female toilet being whellchair accessible.
